Fark ‘em
You know what? Fark ‘em. Fark the people who refuse to engage. Fark the people who hide behind coy evasions and third-party missives. I’m done chasing coat-tails and enduring pointed silences. I have too much to do to be caught up in petty games, playing the patient soul while you hide behind fear of being wrong or embarrassed or, worst of all, offended.
You had your chance. Years, I’ve bided. Clearly you have better things to do, so I’ll let you get to them. Have fun. When you’re ready to actually say something, you know where to find me. I’ll be as happy to engage as ever. But I’m done waiting.
Fear is a terrifying stumbling block, is it not? Fear of being wrong is a particularly brutal affliction for those of us who embrace intellect and learning — because we are proud, because we bind so much self-worth to our intelligence. I hope, sir, that whoever is afraid to engage you, steps aside from the pride, humbles themselves, and moves forward.
You cut to the heart of it. It’s not about intelligence but the vanity thereof. I have striven these recent years to gut my pride, to accept and even seek out where I am wrong, that I may be of benefit to those around me rather than an obstruction or a stumbling block. But I’m not a telepath, nor a genius. I can’t see outside of the context of the self without assistance from the other.
